Gary Gygax's Dangerous Journeys RPG: an interesting attempt by the co-creator of fantasy role-playing to recreate the spirit of adventure first felt in Dungeons & Dragons using an open-ended, rather than a restrictive, player character system, in the new setting of Aerth; it was legal, not rpg failings that allowed the then owners of TSR to force its withdrawal, and sale to them - whereupon they squashed it.
